Sri Jaladurga Devi Peetha Jeernodhaara Seva

Story

WORKS IN PROGRESS: Srinivasa Hawaldaar family has donated a piece of land (5 cents) to build a temple for the deity Sree Jaladurga Devi, near Shivatthikere in Karkala, Karnataka. Ground levelling, filling and Foundation laying is in progress. The first meeting of the "Jeernodhaara Committee" was held on 07-Mar. We are now trying to collect funds from the public to meet the expenses of building a decent abode for the Devi and a peaceful place for Her devotees to pray.

History

The presiding deity, Sri JalaDurga Devi, has been worshipped at this place for more than 500 years by devotees. Over the last 30 years, as development progressed, the place has lost its "space" and "sacred solitude". A road goes right next to the "Peetha" now and makes it difficult for devotees to pray in peace. Rituals like "Prashne" have indicated that the presiding deity also feels "disturbed". The devotees are now trying to get a small temple built for the Devi through this public donation drive.
